Shri Basavaraj Bommai, Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, flagged off the first fleet of electric buses at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on December 27, 2021. Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has signed an agreement with NVVN to operate the Electric buses on the Gross Cost Contract Model for 10 years.

The e-Bus project is a major green initiative, where electric buses, as Metro feeder services, provide eco-friendly commute options with zero emissions, for first and last-mile connectivity.

The project comprises of providing 90 Nos. Non-AC electric buses along with associated charging infrastructure. These buses are provided with 33+1 seats, vehicle tracking units, CCTV, LED route-display boards and emergency panic buttons for promoting passenger safety. Presently 40 Nos. e-buses have been delivered and the balance would be added to the fleet by January 2022.
